2 School Buses Destroyed in Arson Fire

YUMA, Ariz. (AP) — Authorities say an arson fire destroyed two empty Yuma school buses and damaged a third.

Fire Department spokesman Mike Erfert said firefighters arriving at the scene before dawn Thursday and found two buses engulfed in flames.

The Yuma Sun reports that firefighters quickly extinguished the fire before it spread, but a third bus sustained heat damage.

The buses were located at the Yuma Schools Transportation Consortium yard.

Consortium official Sue Johnson said it will cost $120,000 to replace each bus.

Erfert said investigators determined the fire was intentionally set, but there was no immediate word of a motive or suspects.
