PHOENIX – Former Arizona Diamondbacks player Luis Gonzalez is giving back during the MLB All-Star week.
Gonzalez teamed up with Bank of America to fill backpacks with school supplies on Friday.
10,000 backpacks will be given out to students in need, just in time for the upcoming school year.
Gonzalez says he feels honored to help this great cause.
“It’s definitely exciting, it’s a fun exciting week that we are having here in Arizona and no better than to try and give back like we’re doing here with the clothing drive,” he said.
Bank of America will donate $5,000 to the school drive for every double play in next week’s All-Star game.
