TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — A former high school teacher in Tucson who admitted kissing an underage male student has been placed on three years’ probation.
Pima County prosecutors said Wednesday that 26-year-old Christie Elliott also must register as a sex offender.
She was indicted last June on three felony charges including luring a minor for sexual exploitation, sexual conduct with a minor and bribing a witness.
Authorities say the ex-English teacher at Tucson’s Empire High was suspected of sending inappropriate text messages to a 15-year-old boy’s phone and having him touch her intimately.
Elliott pleaded guilty last month to aggravated assault of a minor with sexual motivation in exchange for the other charges being dismissed.
The Arizona Daily Star says Elliott could have received up to a two-year prison sentence under her plea deal.
